The original publisher of the book was Hodder & Stoughton in 1962. This cover is from the 4th printing of the Panther edition from 1964. This copy isn't in very good condition - please ignore the price label and coffee stain.
This cover is from the 1965 Panther edition. The film was released that year and this is reflected by a photo promo on the first page featuring Michael Caine. Mr Caine also appears on the back cover.
Deighton had written dozens of books by the '80s; they were all reprinted using this minimal white-background style. This edition was published in 1985 by Triad/Panther Books.

The original Region 2 DVD from Carlton (1999) was unforgivably not in widescreen format, with very meagre special features. There was a widescreen re-release, but a new special edition is to be released in January 2006.
The Region 1 DVD is much better; 2.53:1 widescreen and a fascinating commentary from the director (Sidney J. Furie) and editor (Peter Hunt). (Back to main page) |
